I love mixed media. It allows so much freedom to create a lot of interesting layers which evoke much emotion. The medium can be anything from acrylic, oil, pastel, wax, newspaper etc.

One of my favorite mixed media expressions is the creation of encaustics. Encaustics is an ancient art form where oil paint is mixed with beeswax and then torched. Multiple layers of this technique create rich depth and texture. You can see many examples of encaustic art in this gallery.
